John Railton
Born 1963 in Kent, England

After finishing a Fine Art Degree at Sheffield City Polytechnic in 1986, with a First class honours in Painting I moved to Spain. My intention was to learn Spanish and paint in new surroundings with a climate that would permit more open air painting than the British Isles could offer.

I arrived in Granada at the start of 87 and made rapid progress with the language and began to paint the squares, streets and people. In 89 I went back to England to study for a Post-graduate degree in Education. After successfully completing this course I returned to Granada where I taught English and continued to paint. A year later I left for Madrid to work in a Language school. The following year I was offered the position of Head of Art at Kensington school, Pozuelo, just outside Madrid, which is where I am teaching at present.

It is not easy to combine my professional and family life with my artwork, however visitors to this site will I hope agree, I have achieved a substantial and varied portfolio of work and am constantly exploring new themes and more challenging artistic projects.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the visitor to this site to leave a comment should they find a particular work of interest or wish to discuss prices.

Después de terminar la carrera de Bellas Artes en la ciudad de Sheffield con matrícula de honor en pintura, tomé la decisión de afincarme en España. Tenía la intención de aprender el español y pintar en un entorno nuevo y con un clima que me permitiría pintar al aire libre, cosa que sería mas complicado en Las Islas Británicas.

Llegué a Granada a comienzos del año 87 y progresé rapidamente con el idioma y empecé a pintar las calles, las plazas y la gente. En el 89 volví a Inglaterra para realizar los estudios de post-graduado en educación. Después de terminarlo con éxito, regresé a Granada donde impartía clases de inglés y continuaba pintando. Un año mas tarde me fuí a Madrid para trabajar en una escuela de idiomas. El año siguiente se me ofreció el puesto de Jefe de Departamento de Arte en el colegio bilingüe, Kensington School, de Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid) y es aquí donde me encuentro trabajando en la actualidad.

No es fácil compaginar mi vida profesional y familiar con la vocación artística, sin embargo espero que el visitante que se acerque a esta exposición en la red, vea que he logrado reunir una amplía y variada obra. Siempre tengo la ilusion de continuar explorando nuevos temas y cada vez mas ambiciosos proyectos artísticos.

Me gustaría aprovechar este momento para animar al visitante a que deje algún comentario sobre cualquier pintura que le haya interesado, o si lo desea, pedir información sobre los precios.
